The Space Tourism ScorecardUniversal Space Systems will present here our assessment of the major companies in the Space Tourism Industry that are competing for the "space tourist dollar". Companies that have publicly announced their intention to enter the Space Tourism market are included as well as others that we feel are definitely worth watching. Other aerospace companies that are not listed here, may be working towards this goal but have yet to publicly reveal their plans. Aerospace companies that are in a supporting role for the Space Tourism Industry (supplying space system hardware and/or services but do not plan on marketing "space tours") are only mentioned to show their relationship to the prime Space Tourism company. These alphabetic lists includes companies that will be offering sub-orbital and/or orbital "space tours". Even though the immediate future of the Space Tourism Industry is targeted for sub-orbital space flights, we feel that the operational timeframe between the two Space Tourism programs is only going to be separated by four to six years, so our assessment includes both. We have also elected to include one company that is unique to the industry because, if successful, it will establish the "space resort" as the next phase of the orbital market for the Space Tourism Industry. company as either being Before an individual "books a reservation for a space tour", careful consideration into all aspects of the company must be taken into account. Until there is maturity, stability and standards in the industry, a future "space tourist" should not make a commitment for space travel without all the facts.
